I enjoyed a bottle of the ‘93 Chateau Montelena tonight at the Wynn in Las Vegas. It was extremely fragant, flowery, with a sub-hint of tobacco and cassis. Medium-long on the finish, but lacked the punch of some of the competing regional cabernet sauvignons. The bottle it most reminded me of was a ‘75 Lafite I had several years ago.
The first bottle of the evening was an ‘03 Pride Merlot; very tasty, if a little less complex than one might have hoped for.
