Here’s the e-mail to the Seattle Tech Startups list that draws my latest musing. It’s from the creator of HotPopcorn, a new iPhone app for movie lovers.
I am proud to announce that right before the holidays our iPhone app
appeared in the App Store.
Hot Popcorn is a movies app with movie information, reviews, trailers
and show times. We are also the only movies app that lets you buy
movie tickets without leaving the app.We just got our first review by touchmyapps.com and it was very
positive. More info, including screen shots and links can be found on
our website: http://www.hot-popcorn.comAny feedback is always welcome.
Thanks,
Peter Boctor
Peter: you have a great app that is getting a ton of attention. But why, oh why, do you not include any information about you or your company that would give some context to those who want to spread the word?
When I first read this, I wasn’t even sure that you were a Seattle-based company. I had to google you and find a mention on TechFlash to find that out.
I went to your “about” page at http://www.hot-popcorn.com/about/, but no information about who, where, when, etc.
Now, this could be because PR is dead; that nobody is interested anymore in the mundane old data that went along with traditional PR. Now, if you want to know something, you google it and piece the information together yourself. Or you wait for something like CrunchBase to index you and your company. Or both.
Readers – what do you think?
p.s. I think your app looks great and wish you the best of luck.
